Treasury and Finance

The Treasury Operations Department serves Moody students by handling Student Accounts and Student Health Insurance.

Student Accounts

Student Accounts handles the billing and payment of each student's account. They also administer the Moody Payment Plan. Moody students have two options in the payment of their bills. They can pay off their account prior to the beginning of the semester (August 1 for fall and December 1 for spring), or they can take part in the Moody Payment Plan. The Moody Payment Plan is an interest-free alternative to lump-sum payment of the student bill. It is a plan by which a student may make account payments on a monthly basis rather than paying in full at the time of registration. The plan, administered by the Treasury Operations department, is available to all qualified students. NOTE: This option is not available to international students in their first semester.

The student’s total semester bill is divided into five (5) equal monthly payments (monthly payment amounts are subject to change as subsequent charges are added to the student bill). Payments are due on the first of each month. The payments for the fall semester are due in July, August, September, October and November. The payments for the spring semester are due in December, January, February, March and April.

Students desiring to use the payment plan may enroll online via my.moody.edu. Enrollment in the plan begins mid-April and returning students must enroll in the plan no later than May 31 for the fall semester and October 31 for the spring semester. Students may choose to participate in the plan for one or both semesters. However, students enrolled in the fall semester will automatically renew for the spring semester unless a cancellation request is made directly to the Payment Plan Coordinator. Students who register for the spring only will not be automatically enrolled the following fall, but must re-register each fall in order to be enrolled in the plan.

There is a $50, non-refundable, fee due at the time of enrollment (enrollments will not be completed until the fee has been paid). The fee is charged for each semester the plan is utilized (i.e., a student utilizing the plan for the entire academic year will pay a total of $100).

For additional information about the Moody Payment Plan, please see the FAQ page on the student portal or contact Emma Williams at (312) 329-4212 or emma.williams@moody.edu.

Student Health Insurance

All Chicago campus residential students and BSMAT 4 and 5 students are required to be covered by a health insurance plan that provides for hospitalization and medical-surgical coverage in the event of sickness or accident for the entire time they are enrolled as a student, including breaks between semesters. All students are personally responsible for any health care expenses not covered by their insurance, (deductibles, copayments, excluded items and services, etc). Students are responsible for knowing and following the procedures of their insurance company, including remaining current with any forms to be submitted, and for following the payment policy of the health care provider, office, clinic or hospital from which they receive services; this may mean that payment is required at the time of service.

A student may choose to enroll in the Moody Bible Institute Student Health Insurance plan or be covered by another insurance plan via my.moody.edu. If a student chooses another insurance plan, he or she must provide Moody with evidence that insurance coverage is in effect by submitting a completed Waiver of Insurance form. This form must be submitted with a copy of both sides of the current insurance card once each school year, prior to the fall semester (or the first semester of the school year during which the student is enrolled). Commuter students and MBI-Spokane students are eligible to participate in the MBI Student Health Insurance plan provided that one or more of the following conditions apply: 1) full-time status; 2) Educational Ministries students completing their student teaching, 3) graduating seniors in their final semester.

All international students, their spouses, and dependent children are required to purchase the MBI Student Health Insurance plan. Exceptions may apply. Consideration will be given on an individual basis and must be handled through Treasury Operations. Canadian students are required to carry supplemental coverage in addition to their provincial plan, as Canadian provincial plans offer only limited coverage for health care in the United States.
