Students in classroom at Spokane campus

Overview

Moody Bible Institute – Spokane offers a Bachelor of Science in Biblical Studies, a Bachelor of Science in Missionary Aviation Technology, an Associate of Biblical Studies, and a Certificate of Biblical Studies.

Bachelor of Science in Biblical Studies (BSBS)

The BSBS degree is designed to provide the student with a solid Biblical education, preparation for ministry and a theological foundation. The degree program's 17 open electives allow the student an opportunity to pursue courses in their specific area of interest. In addition to classroom based learning, the student participates weekly Practical Christian Ministry assignments in a local ministry throughout all four years and completes a ministry internship during their senior year. For many, the degree is a platform for a graduate education while others will go directly to the pastorate, mission field, youth ministry, or women’s ministry.

Bachelor of Science in Missionary Aviation Technology (BSMAT)

Building on nearly 60 years of missionary aviation training, the BSMAT degree is designed to meet the specific needs of the missionary aviation community. The degree consists of 60 semester hours of Bible and general education taken at the Moody Bible Institute – Spokane campus, six quarters of Airframe and Power-Plant training through Spokane Community College, and additional training in the student’s chosen emphasis: flight or maintenance. All students participate in a ministry internship during their program.

Associate in Biblical Studies (ABS)

The ABS degree is designed to give the student a sound theological base for leadership, teaching, and ministry within the local church, particularly within volunteer or bi-vocational service. The two-year program involves study in Bible and theology, ministry skills, and general education. Often those desiring to serve in a missions context receive their biblical training with an ABS degree while pursuing another field of study, such as accounting or nursing.

Certificate in Biblical Studies (CBS)

The CBS program is designed for the student who wants a solid biblical foundation in the context of formal college study, but because of time or other constraints does not choose to obtain an associate or bachelor's degree. In two semesters, the student is exposed to the basics of Bible study, basic Bible doctrine, an overview of the Old and New Testaments, principles of evangelism and discipleship, and an introduction to spiritual life and ministry skills. All courses are fully accredited, transferable, and applicable toward MBI’s ABS and BSBS degrees.
