Alumni Recognition
The Alumni Association of Moody Bible Institute honors select graduates who have distinguished themselves through faithfulness to Christ, perseverance in service and contributions to the cause of Christ. Two recognitions are currently awarded:
- Distinguished Service Award
- Alumnus of the Year Award
MBI alumni may nominate individuals to be considered based upon the following criteria:

- Criteria for Consideration
In the normal course of things, the Moody Alumni Association Board of Directors cannot honor all alumni who faithfully serve Christ. However the Board is seeking to recognize graduates of the Institute who are representative of our alumni in a variety of ways. If you know of alumni whom God is blessing in life and ministry, we would like to hear about them.
Any form of recognition is to be based on the following factors from 2 Timothy 2:15, the motto of Moody Bible Institute:
- Christian character "Study to show thyself approved to God…"
- Christian service "…a workman that needeth not be ashamed…"
- Loyalty to the Word of God "… rightly dividing the word of truth."
Recognitions are given in order to: (1) give glory to God for His faithfulness; (2) honor alumni; and (3) provide a witness to Moody students and alumni of God's desire to use them.
When recognizing alumni, the Alumni Association Board of Directors will prayerfully consider individuals in light of 2 Timothy 2:15 (above), 1 Timothy 3:1-13; 1 Timothy 5:9-10; Titus 1:6-9; and Galatians 5: 22-23. The Board should be able to observe special indication of the Lord's favor on those who are recognized. Recipients of recognition should have demonstrated years of faithfulness to Christ, perseverance in service, and contributions to the cause of Christ, seen or unseen.
Corroborating references should be people who have known the alumnus for an extended period of time. Your recognitions must be returned in writing using the Alumni Nomination Recognition Form available from the Alumni Association office or download from this page. NOTE: Normally, recipients of alumni awards are not notified prior to their recognition. Thus, it is best not to divulge your recommendation to others. Additionally, please note that your recognition in no way guarantees recognition by the Alumni Board.
If the person you have in mind meets the stated award criteria and you would like the Alumni Board to consider them for recognition, please download the Nomination Form, fill it out and mail it to the Alumni Department. If you have difficulty downloading, a copy can be mailed or faxed.
