Message from the Chief:
The philosophy of Public Safety is seeing the campus as a “base camp” for our students to be housed, taught, fed, rested and spiritually nurtured in a threat-free environment. Students are being equipped to be sent out from this home base to minister in the city and we want them to be able to return to a secure campus environment. Our focus is their protection and education.
It has been the mission of Public Safety & Security, since my arrival in 2009, to be able to confidently answer the question, “Are efforts being made to utilize good practices, procedures and technology in addressing the three main goals of all campus security forces: protection of life, protection of property and enforcement of laws?”
Our officers are trained and certified as private security agents in the State of Illinois. They are tasked to uphold our mission but they also realize that they are the street-level face, voice and ambassadors for Moody — representing the president, trustees, legal department, faculty and staff. In light of this, officers are challenged to enforce policies in a way that promotes Moody values.
This website is designed to give students and staff the best information available to help them stay safe during their time at Moody. Please don’t hesitate to contact me or one of my officers if you have any additional questions.
— Jerry Zeldenrust, Chief of Public Safety
