• SPIRITUAL FORMATION CERTIFICATE

Applications now being accepted for the September 2016 Cohort

    Application deadline July 1, 2016

The Spiritual Formation Certificate Program is a one-year cohort program designed to assist individuals in radically deepening their relationship with Christ and becoming inwardly conformed to His image in order to train others in lay ministry; through both spiritual formation and direction in the church.

Our greatest commandment is to love God with all our heart, soul and mind (Matthew 22:37). This call to radical following invokes the transformation of our entire being, by God’s Spirit, into the likeness of Christ. We live in a time where it is becoming increasingly more difficult to live the supernatural reality of the kingdom of God here and now, leaving many with an intensifying hunger for a more intimate connection with Christ Himself. In light of this, this program is designed entirely around promoting growth in the believer’s inner life of faith and prayer with God.

    Career Opportunities

Participants in this program will be able to grasp a deeper sense of the process of spiritual transformation and therefore be able to assist others in deepening their relationship with Christ. This may occur through one-on-one mentoring, formal spiritual direction, small groups and large group teaching.

This is a non-accredited, non-collegiate program that can be used as a means for personal and/or professional development at the employer’s discretion. Upon completion, students will receive a Certificate of Completion. No other credential for this program is offered at this time.

    Program Objectives

Students participating in the Spiritual Formation Certificate program will:

    • begin to understand through experience and teaching that growth and intimacy with Christ is based upon an encounter with God that touches every aspect of the human experience and the very core of their beings
    • be provided avenues in which they can honestly assess themselves in light of God and His truth
    • grow in courage to face into sinful patterns and blocks that prevent them from intimacy with Jesus Christ
    • interact with and come to appreciate the biblically informed sources that have been influential throughout the history of the church
    • develop skills in selecting disciplines, practices, rules, circumstances and relationships through which they can be matured into Christlikeness
    • cultivate deeper intimacy with Christ in prayer by exploring how best to strengthen their own personal communication with God
    • be learning how to integrate spiritual formation as a vital part of their everyday life and ministry

Do I earn college credit for attending the certification program?
This is a non-accredited, non-collegiate program that can be used as a means for personal and/or professional development. What are the benefits and features of the Program?
There are many believers who are faithfully following Christ but can't see any real tangible change in their life even in the midst of faithful following. This program will help individuals go deeper in their intimacy with Christ, help them identify the unique roadblocks that keep them from becoming more like Christ and changing, provide a model to help others grow deeper and will engage with other believers in a caring community environment.

What will a person learn or be able to do with this certificate?
They will have specific tools to help them walk closely with Christ, as well as a model to help others walk with Christ. Some participants may want to go on to the additional 6-month module to be trained to become a spiritual director.
