Student Life COVID-19 Guidelines
While life on campus is different due to COVID-19, we are working hard to preserve as much as possible of the unique richness of the Moody experience and the sense of community we all love.
Campus Health & Safety
Keeping the Moody community healthy requires consideration of everyone's safety. When we take care of ourselves, students and staff will continue to succeed. The COVID-19 Campus Guidelines for the Spring 2021 semester are currently being updated and will be available here once finalized.
A Summary of Plans for This Spring
We currently plan on Moody’s campuses being open for the Spring 2021 semester. This web page will answer many of your questions about the necessary changes and adjustments to our learning formats.
As announced by our provost, Dr. Perry, we are utilizing a highly flexible (hyflex) approach to learning for most classes, allowing students to attend classes in person, online via Zoom, or by viewing a class recording afterward, based upon your needs and/or preferences and whether you reside on or off-campus. This new learning model will allow us to continue to deliver classroom teaching this spring, even if a resurgence of COVID-19 becomes a challenge for colleges.
- Chicago undergraduate classes begin January 25 and seminary classes begin on January 11 as planned, and in-person classes will conclude the week of May 10.
- Our Spokane and Michigan campuses will have slightly differing start and end dates that will be announced directly from their respective campus leaders.
- If state or local agencies require that we discontinue our in-person classes due to COVID-19, we plan to not vacate our residence halls. Instead, we will complete the remainder of the semester using our flexible model where students can choose to remain on campus and in their residence halls, move off campus, or move home.
- We continue to implement best practices as guided by the CDC and other health agencies with the goal to keep everyone safe and healthy, as well as maintain proper healthcare protocols to care for students who are symptomatic or become ill.
