Master of Arts [Intercultural and Urban Studies]
In the Master of Arts in Intercultural and Urban Studies, you live and serve in a community—at home or abroad—while developing your ministry skills. In addition to deepening your knowledge of the Word, join a network that includes local and international churches, ministry organizations and scholars.
On campus, work in a rich intercultural environment with fellow students from all over the world. Off campus, be equipped by working with a variety of people in a local setting.
In the MAIUS there is no professional licensure and since it is an academic program under ATS, there is no official practicum or internship.
Learn from an international faculty who bring knowledge and experience in intercultural church planting, discipleship, cross-cultural teaching, research, ministry to victims of violence and exploitation, translation, pastoral ministry and more. Each is committed to following Christ and serving you.
Learn to articulate traditional evangelical beliefs effectively as well as analyze and interpret the original biblical languages, You'll specialize and gain expertise in of these emphases:
You’ll be able to take classes when—and how—it’s most convenient for you. Our courses are offered on the Chicago campus both in the evenings and during the day. We also teach them in a hybrid format that combines online and in-person instruction.
Learn to teach English in a cross-cultural setting with a TESOL emphasis. You'll earn a respected MA degree while gaining special skills in English education.
