GENERAL ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS
Students admitted to Moody Theological Seminary—Michigan are chosen on the basis of spirituality, ministry zeal, character references and scholastic ability. Applicants should possess qualities that indicate usefulness in the Lord's service that will make them desirable members of the Institute family.
For these reasons, candidates for admission must give evidence of acceptance of the Lord Jesus Christ as Savior, a good Christian character and a sincere desire to win others to Him. Membership in an evangelical Protestant church and agreement with the Institute's doctrinal statement are also required.
All applicants to MTS—Michigan are evaluated for admission on the basis of the following four criteria:
- all academic records of postsecondary work
- personal ministry history
- character references
- statement of purpose for applying to the program
A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university is required. Each student must provide transcripts verifying a 2.50 grade point average (on a scale of 4.0). An individual with a lower GPA may be considered for admission on a provisional status. The provisional status will be dropped if the student demonstrates successful academic abilities by attaining at least a B- average for the 12 credit hours of provisional coursework. The student must then re-apply for their intended program, and if admitted, their provisional credits will transfer into their academic program.
All international applicants must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language with a high degree of proficiency. Academic success at Moody will depend on the student’s level of fluency in English. Therefore, all applicants must take the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) and have the scores submitted directly to the Office of Admissions. A minimum TOEFL score of 575 on paper-based tests, 233 on computer-based tests, or 85 on internet-based tests, or a minimum IELTS score of 6.5 is required. Applicants who do not meet a minimum English proficiency requirement will not be admitted.
By completing and signing the application, the student promises to respect the standards of Moody. The applicant also stipulates that he or she subscribes to Moody's doctrinal statement. Since Moody is an interdenominational school, the applicant agrees not to teach his or her own special views of doctrine or practice, nor to press them on fellow students.
