Learning Experiences
See below for a list of learning experiences in and out of the classroom of Moody Bible Institute's Music Department.
Belong to a Large Ensemble
Join the Moody Chorale, Moody Campus Orchestra, Moody Worship Collectives, or Moody Gospel Ensemble. Put your ministry training into practice as you travel around the United States and occasionally internationally.
Get Involved in Music Ministry
All Moody students are involved in a Practical Christian Ministry each semester—many music majors tailor those required ministries to their music skills. Also, there are numerous requests for church musicians in Chicago that students can take advantage of. If you want to be busy in ministry, you will find many opportunities to do so.
Learn About Music from Around the World
Through our world music classes and world instrument collection, you can be exposed to music traditions and instruments from other cultures. Whether you end up working in the U.S. or another country, this exposure will provide richness to your music knowledge.
Earn a Double Major
All music majors at Moody also take 34 credits of Bible and Theology courses.
Take Private Music Lessons
All Moody students can take private music lessons in any area. There is also beginning class instruction in voice, piano, and guitar. The music office on the second floor of the Doane Memorial Music Building provides further information and assistance in signing up.
Aquire Private Teaching Experience
The Moody Bible Institute Community Music School hires qualified Moody music majors and graduates who are interested in teaching private or group lessons as a ministry and vocation in order to provide them with practical teaching experience before graduation.
