Develop your Creative Talents to Tell God's Story

Discover What’s Possible with a Bachelor of Arts in Communications

The Bachelor of Arts in Communications program will provide you with outstanding instruction and diverse opportunities where you can master your creative talents. You will grow both spiritually and professionally as you combine your rich Bible and theology training with your media skills.

The Moody BA in Communications is an integrated media arts program, allowing more than 200  students the flexibility to train across multiple mediums and the opportunity to dive deep in their chosen discipline.

Courses are offered in the following areas of communications:

  • Writing, publishing, and journalism
  • Speech and performance
  • Video production
  • Radio and audio production
  • Organizational communications and media strategies
  • Visual design and photography

On our Chicago campus, you will join a distinctively collaborative, creative community! No other Christian college offers communications training in partnership with two renowned Christian media outlets: Moody Publishers and Moody Radio. Our students regularly rub shoulders with and learn from our professional colleagues—resulting in mentorship, internships, and even entry-level employment.

The engine of our Communications program is our media practicum teams. These student-led, faculty-advised teams produce exciting professional-level work each year. Every communications student is required to spend at least one semester on a practicum team. Many students extend their practicum involvement for a full year or more.

These are our current practicum teams:

You will enjoy our new next-generation educational ministry media lab with studios and spaces for you to practice video and audio recording and editing, podcasting, radio broadcasting, visual design, live performance, and more. This global center for theological creativity, community, and imagination is ready and waiting for you!

Moody’s Communications program is unlike any other. While other programs foster competitiveness, we cultivate the collective expressions of a collaborative community. We care deeply about theologically trained communicators and media artists who create meaningful media that ministers to others. What makes Moody’s Communications program exceptional is the opportunity for diverse students to develop theology, theory, technique, and technology alongside one another. As a student, you will grow in ways that would be impossible independently and stretch yourself beyond your expectations. Plus, you’ll live and study in the heart of Chicago, a multicultural city with hundreds of opportunities to learn and serve right on your doorstep.

“The Communications program is an incredible community of students and professors who will challenge you and make you better. I run my own business now and use my graphic design and video editing training from Moody regularly.”
