Moody Bible Institute will continue to encourage its students, staff, and faculty to get the Covid-19 vaccine, yet we will continue to give the responsibility of decision making whether to get vaccinated to each individual within our community.

Most local pharmacy chains offer free vaccination. More information on how and where to be vaccinated can be found here for Chicago employees. Non-Chicago area employees can inquire with their State/Local Department of Health.

The federal government is providing the vaccine free of charge to all people living in the United States.

There is no cost for the vaccine. However, vaccination providers can charge an administration fee for giving the shot that is reimbursed by the patient’s public or private insurance company or, for uninsured patients, by the Health Resources and Services Administration at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. No one can be denied a vaccine if they are unable to pay a vaccine administration fee.

While Moody no longer requires masks, Chicago’s COVID-19 risk level is at a medium level and wearing a mask indoors on campus is highly recommended.

At the beginning of the pandemic, Moody Bible Institute invested in installing more hand sanitizer stations throughout campus. This improvement will remain in place for the academic year.

The MBI community should also be mindful and wash their hands often, cover their coughs and sneezes, disinfect high-touch surfaces, and monitor their health daily, staying home if they feel unwell.

Thank you for continuing to respect one another as we seek to provide a more normal residential experience while still keeping our community healthy. It remains important for everyone at Moody to monitor yourself for COVID-19 symptoms, test when you feel sick and stay home to avoid exposing others if you are sick. MBI will continue to monitor the situation, review guidelines from Chicago Department of Public Health (CDPH) and the CDC, consult with on-campus stakeholders, and make adjustments as needed.

If you test positive for COVID-19, please stay home for five days and then wear a mask when you return to campus for five days.

You do not need to isolate if you come in close contact.

No. Due to how long it can take the virus to show up in your system, a negative test does not mean you won’t develop the infection later. Symptomatic individuals are required to isolate for 5 days from the onset of symptoms, in accordance with CDC guidance.
